About this event
Vintage racing with VRG at Watkins Glen International. Our 17th consecutive year of running VRG at the Glen! Come join us for three days of competitive but friendly racing at this wonderful and historic track. Open to all vintage racers with a valid vintage license.
Hype reel: 1980 USGP Watkins Glen (youtube.com). (Jack O'Malley should have won)
Also, we have confirmed that the crew that came to Jefferson 500 will be coming to the Glen and we'll be livestreaming the races on Saturday and Sunday on Youtube. Please subscribe to the Vintage Racer Group channel to see an example (from J500) and watch this year's racing!
NOTE: We will be using the traditional "long course" including the Boot on Friday and Saturday, and the short course on Sunday. We will therefore have practice/qualify sessions on the short course on Sunday morning and races later in the day. We're looking forward to hearing people's feedback after they have had the opportunity to race on the short course! Anyone interested in walking the short track on Saturday evening to get familiar (and help an important cause), please see NOTE 2, below!
NOTE 2: The 2024 Watkins Glen Walk to End Alzheimers will take place on the track and in the pit area after our racing has concluded on Saturday evening. There may be a car show and informal "meet the drivers" associated with the walk, more information to come on how you can participate in the show, in the walk or as a volunteer should you wish, but it is entirely voluntary.

Tire Rules
VRG tire rules will be used for entrants running in VRG Race Groups. However, Historic Race Group (HRG) is a guest racing organization of VRG for this event and HRG members at this VRG event are allowed to follow their own HRG tire rules which include any DOT approved tire. This includes DOT approved competition tires like Hoosier R7s & Toyo Proxes and any treaded racing tire designated as Vintage or Historic by the manufacturer. This exception for allowance of HRG's tire rules is only permitted for HRG members. Except for the HRG feature race, HRG members will be mixed within VRG run groups but will be classed within HRG's Timing and Scoring.
