About this event
Sasquatch Speed Trials is a two weekend championship designed to showcase multiple different motorsports disciplines. Festival Weekend, held at Qlispe Raceway Park this April, offers a choose-your-own-adventure of different sub-events. Hill Climb Weekend, location and date to be determined, will offer competitors a final chance to secure points on one of the PNW’s fantastic mountain roads. There are six classes in the championship, running the gamut from the fastest cars around to b-spec compacts.
For Festival Weekend, competitors will participate in their choice of autocross, time trial, rallycross, and drift events in order to qualify for a timed shootout held Sunday afternoon. The top three cars in each class for each sub-event (no repeats, not including drifting) will qualify for the shootout. In addition, the next four fastest cars regardless of class will qualify as well. Since the drifting will be a little different, the top nine drifters will qualify for the shootout.
Event requirements
SST is run in accordance with Global Time Attack safety minimums. The safety levels listed under the following classes are intended to be the minimum safety level, and safety features above and beyond the minimum are encouraged. Established classes listed under each heading are intended as guidelines to facilitate placement, vehicles do not necessarily need to fit into one of the classes in the lists. SST staff reserve the right to place a vehicle into a different class than applied for based on performance.
For Festival Weekend this spring, each sub-event will be worth a maximum of 50 points, with the shootout being worth 100. A participant’s best two sub-events including the shootout will count towards the championship. All events will be scored based on time determined by the formula (competitor time/fastest time) x max points. This is the same way the NATA Championship does its scoring. In the fall Hill Climb Weekend will round out the championship and be worth 150 points.
Neither weekend requires a competitor to do the other weekend, and each is open to those not seeking the championship. However, there will be discounts for spring competitors who sign up for the fall event, with a standard rate for any competitor and bigger discounts for prize winners.
Competitors should have some experience with auto racing events, and have well surpassed the need for an in-car instructor, this event is not intended to be a first outing. SST recommends Turn2Lapping for open track days to gather experience on track.
