About this event
Join us in May for our second Drive & Dine event of the year!
When: Saturday, May 14, 10:00 am from Manassas, VA.
Where: Rally point to be provided to registrants.
What: We’ll be cruising down Virginia Byways, driving down winding roads, some familiar stretches and some new, for our first visit to Hunter’s Head Tavern in historic Upperville, VA, followed by a jaunt over to the Barrel Oak Winery & Farm Taphouse in Delaplane. Hunter’s Head is located in a home built by the founder of Upperville in the 1700’s and is a rambling structure at the heart of which is the original log cabin. We will arrive around noon to enjoy a choice of English dishes for lunch, featuring meats from the Tavern-Owned Ayrshire Farm. After lunch, we will rev up for a short drive over to Barrel Oak Winery & Farm Taproom. Barrel Oak will have a reserved parking area in front of the entrance for us, and several picnic tables marked for our use. See their website here: https://barreloak.com/
Because of the size of Hunter’s Head, we are limited to just 20 cars. Priority registration will be given to those on the April Drive & Dine waiting list.
Costs: The cost at Hunter’s Head is estimated at $40 per person, which includes soup or salad, a main entrée, non-alcoholic drinks, tax, and gratuity. There is no specific charge at Barrel Oak – you’re welcome to purchase a wine tasting or beer flight – or both! And leave a little room after lunch to try the amazing grilled oysters – a savory dessert!
The preset menu at Hunter’s Head includes your choice of:
Appetizer:
- Soup du Jour OR
- Pub Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette
Main Course: Choose one of the following:
- Bangers & Mash: Ayreshire Farm Pork Bangers, Beef Gravy, Sauteed Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes
