RTR Adult Car Control Clinic @Temple Ambler

Temple University Ambler Campus

About this event

You have your dream car, but can you handle it?

Our highly requested RTR Car Control Clinic is back for 2025!  This is the perfect opportunity to learn how to properly handle your Porsche in various scenarios, as we push you to the edge of your car’s traction limit in a controlled environment with both in-car and classroom instruction.  The goal of this event is to train our PCA members in critical handling and accident avoidance techniques that will help to keep them better and more confident drivers on the roads, while also giving them a taste of Riesentoter's many high performance driving activities (namely Autocross and HPDE/Track) and opportunities for more advanced instruction. These events historically have been oversubscribed, so please sign up early!

What driving exercises will be included?

     1.  Threshold Braking - You will bring your car up to speed under heavy acceleration, and learn the limits of your brakes and tires, both in a straight line, and also while turning in an accident avoidance maneuver.

     2.  Slalom/Turn - You will test and refine your ability to tactically control the balance and positioning of your car while navigating a cone course at a rapid pace.  Smooth steering inputs and forward vision will be key focuses of the exercise.

     3.  Skid Pad - You will be driving in a large circle, on a surface that is modified with the intent of making it difficult to maintain traction. In this exercise, you will experience both understeer and oversteer, and will employ corrective techniques to maintain control of the car.

Venue:  Temple Ambler Campus - 580 Meetinghouse Road Ambler, PA 19002. This is a great venue with a large lot (Lot 3) that will make for fun and effective driving exercises.  We will also have a 50-seat classroom.  Additional logistical information will be shared via email in advance of the event.

Who is this event geared toward?  This event is tailored for drivers who haven't yet participated in any of our high-performance driving events (i.e. Autocross, or HPDE/Track), and who are looking for a fun and relatively low-risk way to test the limits of their car and their driving skills, while developing actionable, life-long skills and knowledge that will make them better, more confident drivers on the road. This is a great segue into other RTR driving events.

I already participate in other RTR driving events but would love to help out. Can I volunteer?  Yes!  Followe the registration link herein, and you will have the opportunity to sign up in either an Instructor or Volunteer capacity.  Thank you!!

Note that, when you register, your registration will be On Hold until we have a sufficient number of instructors signed up.  Once we do, your registration will be confirmed.

Event requirements

No Advance Tech Inspection Requirement.  There will be an on-site tech inspection, but no advance inspection is required. If your car is ready for spirited driving on the street and is ready to pass a state safety inspection, it should have no problem passing our limited tech inspection the day of the event.  If you are uncertain about the condition of your car, we encourage you to have your mechanic give it a look over in advance of the event.

PCA Membership is Required.  Given the limited number of available spots for this event, we must, unfortunately, limit participation to PCA members.

Adults Only.  Due to the requirements of our venue, only adults of age 18 and older are eligible to participate in the driving events.

Valid Driver's License is Required. Please bring your license with you to the event.

Non-Porsche Vehicles Are Welcome.  Although Riesentoter PCA membership is required to participate, you can bring any coupe, convertible, hatchback, or sedan. Porsche Macan and Cayenne SUVs are welcome, but please contact us to verify the appropriateness of any other large vehicles.
