About this event
It’s back to school time, again! If you wanted to learn more about SCCA road rally concepts and techniques, this is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills or to brush up on elements that may have challenged you in a previous rally. Content covers SCCA GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rallies and is geared for novices, though it will also include concepts of interest to the more advanced rallyist. Key course following concepts like “The Main Road” and “Onto” will be explored to help you prepare for our upcoming ONTO Fall Rally on October 19th and the Targa Road Rally on November 9th. ONTO Fall will have many course following problems, many based on the Main Road concept. We will cover Main Road rules in detail in the class. Our lead instructor will be Liz Witt.
Rally School Day is Saturday, October 5th at St Barnabas Presbyterian Church, 1220 W Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX 75080. Registration opens at 8:35 am. Class begins at 9:00 am. Around 10:30, you’re invited to participate in a short rally on neighboring Richardson streets to practice some of the concepts introduced in the classroom. Rally postmortem and Q&A whiteboard session to follow back at the church around noon. Catered sandwich lunch for $9 per person will be available.
For the driving portion of the rally, any street-legal, four-wheel vehicle may enter. At least two people (a driver and a navigator) are required in each car. Contact rally@texasscca.org if you have a minor child (<18) in the car as a form will need to be signed. If you did not come with a partner to this event, we will do our best to pair you up with either another solo entrant or possibly with one of our experienced rallyists. As another option, you may have a chance to ride in the back seat of another team’s car.
The Rally School fee is $5.00 for each individual entrant. There is a $3.00 late fee if you are not preregistered at MotorSportreg.com. The Rally Committee reserves the right to limit entries. We encourage entrants to pre-register at least a couple of days in advance, to ensure we have the right amount of handout materials. To pre-register, page down and click on “Continue.” Note: each individual attending the class must register separately, not as a pair or car.
Texas Region SCCA (www.texasscca.org) is affiliated with the Sports Car Club of America (www.scca.org). With nearly 65,000 members, and with Regions all over the US, the club offers car related activities in a broad range of automotive events.
The instructional rally is sanctioned as a Social Rally by SCCA, and does not award points towards the 2019 Texas Region SCCA Championship RoadRally Series nor the National SCCA RoadRally Championship. Sanction Number 19-RRSG-7982.
