Open Track @ VIR

Welcome to Trackmasters June 18-19, 2025 Open Track event at the world renowned Virginia International Raceway.

Trackmasters is thrilled to offer pure unadulterated Open Track for both days running the Full Course both days!

We will be running two run groups both days: Fast and Faster. The FAST run group is made up of street stock type cars running street tires. This also include momentum type cars or cars with lower horsepower. The FASTER run group is populated with track dedicated and or full race cars shod with DOT R's and or slicks. The idea is is to mitigate vast speed differentials and create a manageable and safer flow for all drivers. Drivers will be given the opportunity to self select their respective run groups at registration.

Each day will start with alternating 30 minute sessions for each group. We will checker after the first hour then the following protocols will remain in effect for the remainder of the day. At the top half of the hour, the FAST run group has "ownership" of the track. At the bottom half of the hour the FASTER run group has "ownership" of the track. That said, any registered driver can go out at ANY TIME, provided they abide by the accepted protocol of track ownership. So, after the first hour, if you are in the FASTER run group and decide to go out at the top half of the hour, you may do so, but expect traffic that may not be fully up to your relative speed. This requires you to be respectful and patient with your fellow drivers that are in the FAST group. Conversely, if you are in the FAST run group and you want to explore the deeper end of the pool and go out at the bottom of the hour, you will be among much FASTER traffic. This requires you to be vigilant in using your mirrors to facilitate quick passes and not create moving chicanes and to NOT impede flow and momentum of FASTER cars.

Our Open Track is for drivers at the top levels of high performance driving, including: professional and amateur racers; certified DE instructors; and very experienced DE drivers.  We take Open Track qualification seriously.   While point-by’s are still required, drivers in our Open Track group are expected to have the situational awareness and the predictability to give and take a point-by anywhere on the track as necessary to allow overtaking cars to maintain their pace and momentum.
