For Mustangs and Fords Only.
The Mustang Club of America is pleased to offer a three-day track event at Barber Motorsports Park located in Birmingham, Alabama in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang. You can drive on track one, two or all three days! The weather should be cool, and we are limiting run group sizes and maximizing track time. You will be on track 4 times each day for 25 minutes each session. The current track schedule is available below and we recommend that you print it out and bring with you to the event.
For Novice drivers, learn high speed driving and car control skills through classroom and in-car instructing from experienced instructors. Bring your street or track car. No previous experience necessary. Novice driver space is limited to 25 cars/day so register early. For the Intermediate, Advanced and Very Advanced run groups, we are allowing up to 40 cars per day (each group). Again, we expect the HPDE portion of the event to sell out so register as early as possible.
Barber does not offer garages, but all track cars will be parked in the lower paddock. We will accommodate parking of enclosed trailers in the lower paddock for track cars where the driver is working out of their trailer. All flat bed/open trailers will be parked in the facilities lot.
The MCA member cost is only $325/day.
The cost for non-members is $350/day. If you are a non-member, you can sign up for the $35-dollar annual membership when registering and enjoy the $325/day rate as well as receive the electronic Mustang Times and all the benefits of being an MCA member.
There are a limited number of RV spots available. We expect these to sell out quickly. The RV Spot pricing does not include electrical power. Electrical Power needs to be purchased separately from the track.
Each Track Day Registration includes a 60th Anniversary Event Pass for the driver and one crew member/spectator. Additional spectator passes can be purchased at https://MCASHOWS.COM/60th-anniversary.
Event requirements
Event Requirements
Must be a Mustang or Ford model car.
Run group assignment you select during registration on Motorsports Reg may be changed by the Chief Instructor based on driver experience/resume information that you provide during the registration process in MotorsportReg. We will confirm your group assignment when you check in at Registration at the track. Run groups will be limited as follows: The Novice Group and Intermediate groups will be limited to 30 cars each/day. The Advanced and Very Advanced run groups will be limited to 40 cars each/day. We expect the event to sell out so register as soon as possible please. Please note, the Chief Driving Instructor will review your driving bio on Motorsports Registration to confirm you have the driving experience for the run group you have selected. If you do not have a Drivers Bio on Motorsports Registration or have not updated it recently, please complete one when you create your account or register for the event.
Experience levels for run groups:
Group 4 = Very Advanced (Solo Driving & Passing with point by for documented advanced driver status or competition license)
Group 3 = Advanced (Solo driving with documented advanced driver status)
Group 2 = Intermediate (Solo Experienced with several driving school and open track events)
Group 1 = Novice (Limited experience with one or two prior driving schools or open track events and not solo approved, instruction required)
Car Sharing: Please contact the event organizer before registering if you plan to share a car between two drivers who must be qualified to participate in different run groups . Separate registrations including payment of separate registration fees are required for each driver. Again, students may not share a car in the same run group.
Open cockpit cars are not permitted for this event unless they comply with the NASA Guidelines for convertibles. Examples of open cockpit cars are BMW Z3s, Convertible Miatas w/o a full competition cage, Convertible Mustangs, AC Cobras, Aerial Atoms, etc.
Barber Motorsports Park will monitor sound levels from a fixed location with 104db being the maximum acceptable level. If your car is louder than 104db at full throttle, you must either update your muffler or consider adding a 'Car Chemistry' (or similar device) insert into your exhaust system. Note, an unmuffled Coyote motor will most likely exceed 104db. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in your car being removed from the track and will not result in a refund of track fees.
Instructors: Acceptance is contingent upon presentation of proper credentials and approval of the MCA DE Chief Instructor. If you have already instructed for us, you are approved and should be able to go to the bottom of the registration page and select the days you plan to instruct.
Students ages 16 & 17 must have a valid driver's license or learner permit from their state of residence, must have parental approval, and a parent must be present at the track.
