About this event
The Motorsports Club of Ottawa is pleased to host an evening of lapping on June 8. Your registration fee of $100 plus HST gives you 60 minutes of track time at the fabulous Calabogie Motorsports Park, broken into two 30-minute segments, and an hour of classroom instruction. Experienced at the track? Join Andre Corriveau for a session on maximizing your pace throughout the track!
This event will be busy, with plenty of traffic on course. This is ideal for those of you working towards a "sign off" by Calabogie for solo driving in their events. We won't be "signing off" participants, but if you are working with a coach who also works with the track, there is a possibility that you could be recommended for a solo check out ride at a later event.
Please note that your placement in a run group is at the discretion of the organizers, and may be applied before or during the event as necessary.
15:15 to 16:00: On-Site Check In (cars will need to pass the "sound-check" -- so the earlier you arrive the better.)
16:00 to 16:45 Classroom/Driver's Meeting
17:00 to 17:30 Solo Track Time/Experienced Drivers with Coaches
17:30 to 18:00 New Driver Pod Experience/New Drivers with Coaches
18:00 to 18:30 Solo Track Time/Experienced Drivers with Coaches
18:30 to 19:00 New Driver Pod Experience/New Drivers with Coaches
19:00 to 21:00 Post Event at Redneck Bistro
Our event is open to everyone!
New to the track? You will be assigned an instructor, and your sessions will run in a "lead-follow" format within a pod of three cars. Any mechanically reliable car is appropriate for this run group -- you will be working on familiarizing yourself with the track and learning basic lapping day procedures. Your speeds will be managed by a pace car. You also have the option of opting out of the lead/follow and working directly with a coach!
Other drivers with Calabogie and track experience will run in the Solo sessions. Coaches will be available for both the New and Solo sessions at an additional cost.
Please Note: this event is open to cars only. This event is not open to EVs due to track restrictions. If you are bringing an open roof car, such as a Miata, you will need to have proper roll-over protection. Unsure of what that means? Email lapping@mco.org
The Motorsports Club of Ottawa is committed to equity and inclusion. We welcome and encourage participation from all. If you believe you are facing a possible barrier to participation in this event, please contact the Lapping Director: lapping@mco.org -- we don't know what we don't know without your input.
Event requirements
All participants must have a Snell-approved helmet (2015 or later). No helmet? No problem -- you can rent one at the track.
