MCO 2024 Autocross School & Test 'N' Tune

Lot 9 - Canadian Tire Centre

About this event

Participants can elect to participate through one of two streams.

The first stream, The School Stream, is aimed at those who are either new to performance driving, or are just getting started. The second stream, the Tune Stream, is aimed at those who want some time to fine tune their inputs, their cars, or simply shake things down. Each stream is described in more detail below:

School Stream

Your day will start with some classroom orientation to the basics like seating position, vehicle dynamics, line selection, and much more. You'll also get a basic primer on how autocross events work and how to approach them. From there, you'll move to in-car exercises including emergency lane-change, slalom, and a peanut-style skid pad that will give you the opportunity to put that theory to use. From there, you'll link it all together for some runs through an autocross course, giving the opportunity to react further apply your learning.

We'll supply lunch and give you the opportunity to meet and network with some of the area's most active, friendly, and quick drivers. Yes, part of the agenda is to get you hooked.

FAQ

Do I need a sports car for this?
Absolutely not! Our school is open to all types of vehicles from family station wagons, to common compacts, to high powered exotics. The only exceptions are vehicles with roll-over risks such as SUVs, trucks, and mini-vans, which we do not accept. For the same reason, Smart Cars are not permitted. If you drive a Ford Fiesta or Fiat 500 (Sport/Pop/Lounge/Turbo), please contact the organizer.

Who will be instructing?
Our volunteer instructors are MCO veterans with proven track records as competitors and as instructors. They typically have championships under their belts, years of experience as instructors, and experience in a wide range of cars.

Does this happen rain or dry?
While driving is usually more fun under sunny skies, rain does happen, so we run - wet or dry. Take some comfort in the fact that students will tend to be warm and dry in their cars all day, unlike the volunteers making the school happen.
