Mayhem at Merle Hay

General Event Information

This is a Corvette Club sponsored event and competitors driving Corvettes will have priority over non-corvette entrants. We are targeting 20 corvettes and 10 non-corvettes for the event. But will adjust as registration progresses. Early registration will be given priority. Application forms are available at registration for those who may wish to join the Corvette Club of Iowa. Online registration will close Thursday night before the event. If space is available, event day registration will be accepted. 

All listed times are Central Daylight Times (CDT).  Driver’s license and NCCC card must be presented at registration, if you are a member. Snell certified “SA” or “M” helmets that are less than 10-years old (from date of manufacture) and in good condition are required.  All minors and pets are the responsibility of the parent/owner.  No class changes after tech closes unless a mechanical malfunction is experienced.  No firearms allowed on the event property.

The host club event Chairperson, Club Governor, Host Region RCD or NCCC VP Comp at the event may deny or remove any person demonstrating unsafe performance or actions at the event from participating in any events for the balance of that day or weekend.  Further, a person who has been documented as behaving in an unsafe manner which could endanger them or anyone else at the events may be denied participation. 

AS PER WEST REGION RULES, “For low speed autocrosses, long pants are required for Group 3 and RP (Race Prepared) class cars.  No spandex, lycra or other synthetic pants are allowed.  Jeans or fire pants are recommended.

Each competitor, worker, and spectator on the property must personally sign the insurance waiver.  Non-NCCC members are not covered by our insurance at these events.

Closed exhaust only. No open headers. 

In the interest of safety, we will have a brief safety meeting following the drivers’ meeting each day.

Saturday - Sunday tech opens at 7:30 am.  Drivers' meeting at 9:00  First car off at 9:30 am or after Drivers' meeting. Corner workers will come from the Drivers' pool.

Workers

Participants should be prepared to work during events when you are not competing.  Corvette Club of Iowa will have as many volunteer workers as we can muster.  However, we may not have enough to ensure we won’t need help from the competitors in order to ensure the course is safe and the event runs smoothly.  The event will happen rain or shine.

EVENT LOCATION

The event is a low-speed autocross, located in the parking lot on the north side of Merle Hay Mall.  From I-80, turn south onto Merle Hay Road and go about 1 ¼ miles (past Aurora Ave.).  When you see the big blue water tower, just past Chick-fil-A, turn right into the parking lot.  Then turn right at the T intersection, then left at your first opportunity.  If you happen to be coming from the south, go north past Douglas Ave. on Merle Hay Road.  Turn left at the big blue water tower on your left, then turn right into the parking lot.  You will then turn right at the T intersection, then left at your first opportunity.  Look for cones and cars.  Welcome to the Brawl at the Mall!
