About this event
Welcome to the 2022 Colorado trackday season!
We are kicking it off at Pikes Peak International Raceway. This is Colorado's premier track and up until now, motorcycle riders were unable to ride here unless racing at a local race event. This is one of our favorite tracks, the facilities here are top notch and it's centrally located in between Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
We have a ton of awesome vendors coming out including Imperial Sportbikes who will be providing Aprilia demo bikes for you to take out and ride on track! NOVICE GROUP ( C )
- is for experienced street-oriented riders who have only a small amount of track experience (or no previous track experience)
This group is very structured, we max it at 22 riders and it is geared toward those who have little or no experience riding on a track. We break riders in to small groups (typically 3 to a coach) We try to match you with riders with similar bike displacements. That group and coach is yours for the day. A brief classroom session gets participants acquainted with the track, basic rules, procedures, and track etiquette. If and when we can, we usually try to have coaches from YCRS on hand to help this group in between each session. On the track, your instructors will set the pace and help you work on techniques throughout the day. Passing in this group is parallel or away from . With each session, the group is guaranteed a steady increase in speed and by the end of the day you’ll feel right at home.
NEW RIDER (D) GROUP
At certain events we may split Novice into 2 run groups: New Rider (D) Group & Novice (C). If we do this, it is because the waitlist for Novice Group is so long that it justifies adding another group.
When this happens New Rider Group will be for riders that have never done a trackday before and Novice will be for riders that have done a track day already.
INTERMEDIATE ( B )
- is for experienced track riders. This group has riders who have many track days under their belts, who understand the rules and are comfortable riding at a very quick pace.
This group is a little less supervised and structured than the Novice group. Control Riders observe riding ability and encourage faster or slower riders to move up or down a group. Plus our CR’s are there to help any rider that wants it. Passing is allowed parallel with a rider or away from. The structure of this group may change to more closely resemble either the Advanced or Beginner group, depending on the group’s overall riding ability.
ADVANCED ( A )
- is for experienced track riders, and licensed racers.
Control Riders are only there to coach and to spot unsafe riding maneuvers and to move riders down that aren’t up to the overall group pace. Passing is allowed anywhere on the track. This group is run much like an open racing practice. You’ll find some of the top coaches and riders in the country in this group helping advance their students riding level.
