May 8, is sooner than than you think, it is the weekend for the Schonesland Club Dragoon Trail drive.
The Dragoon Trail follows the path of the 1st U.S. Dragoons, cavalry soldiers who scouted Iowa in 1835 after the Black Hawk Purchase put the area under U.S. government control. The trail roughly tracks along the course of the Des Moines River from Fort Dodge through Des Moines to Knoxville and Lake Red Rock.
Our drive:
We will depart from the Machine Shed/Hotel Lonovo (11167 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA), drive to Fort Dodge where we will be having lunch at Amigo's, (280 N. 1st St, Ft Dodge, IA). After dinner we will continue our tour, driving back towards Des Moines, ending the tour at the Phillips 66 gas station (315 Story St, Boone, IA) in Boone.
Driver's meeting @ 8:30 with the first group scheduled for an 8:45 departure. A few days before the drive we will email you the directions, please print this as a reference to follow our drive.
