About this event


The California Central Coast Region Porsche Club will hold a Driver Education track day at Buttonwillow Raceway for PCA members and non-PCA members on May 5th., 2023. We will have beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert sessions. Instructors will be available on a first come first serve basis.. PCA requires at least four days track experience or be signed off by an instructor to drive solo. If your eligibility is in question, please contact Bob Bruington at Aircooled911sc@gmail.com.  This not a Porsche exclusive event, many other cars are qualified to join. The track layout will be #1 clockwise.

Each run group will be limited to 25 cars. Please don't wait until the last minute. to register.

Early registration will be available May 4th at the raceway near the Pavilion, starting at 4:30pm. We encourage you to take advantage of early registration then join us for dinner at the Raceway Cafe. A social hour will start at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:30, come early, register your car, then enjoy the company of your fellow drivers. Dinner will include Cajun Bontom fried chicken, salad, mashed potatoes, bacon wrapped asparagus and dessert. Soft drinks, water, limited beer and wine are included.

This is  a rain or shine event.

Camping sites with hookups and garages are available through the track.

Registration at the track will open May 5th at 6:30 AM and close just before the mandatory drivers meeting at 7:30AM.  

Fuel:  Various grades of fuel will be available at the track, some by advanced order. 

Food will be available at the track.

Event requirements

 

We follow PCA DE guidelines.  Please pay attention to the race seat belt requirements for Zone 8. We accept completed Tech Forms from any legitimate auto focused business. Our prefered Tech form here: New CCCR tech form.docx We will accept GGR tech inspection forms or log books Self Tech is not allowed. The gates will be open at 6:30am, bring your completed tech form and 2015SA or newer helmet to registration. Registration will close at 7:30am. If you are near San Luis Obispo, we offer a free tech inspection at The Stable, 750 Francis St., San Luis Obispo, CA., Thursday, April 19th, 5:30pm to 7:00pm.  Please have full tech completed prior to attending the event! Tech is not available at the track.

Head and neck restraints are required with all 5 and  6 point harness systems. Harness system are required to be used with an approved race seat. Harness systems must be certified within the last 5 years.

A PCA requires a safety check of your car within 24 hrs of the event. Have your numbers in place, loose objects removed, head and neck restraints if required. The safety check will be at the grid area. Please drive your car to the grid area prior to the first session. You will not be allowed on the track without the safety check.

2023 DE rules require helmets be Snell SA2015 or newer.

All participants must sign the insurance waivers at the gate prior to entry.

Proper clothing will be mandatory. Cotton long sleeve tee shirt, full length cotton pants, closed toe shoes.

Starting 1/1/19 PCA has required a head and neck restraint devise for any car with 5 or 6 point harness systems. Instructors please note, if you have a passenger in your car, he or she, must have equal restraints to yours including head and neck restraints.

This is a rain or shine event.

Zone 8 requirements for car numbers are 8" height minimum, 1" stroke/width minimum and legible at a distance of 100 feet for the sides of the car and for the front hood of the car. Alternatively, front numbers may be mounted on the upper right corner of the windshield (from the driver’s perspective) with a minimum height of 4 inches. Rear numbers are required with a minimum height of 4 inches

All drivers must have a minimum of four days high speed track experience, signed off by a PCA Instructor or have an instructor assigned to them for this event.
