BMW PSR Long Beach Tour 2010

Spring driving season is upon us! If you are new to the Club, or just haven’t participated in an activity yet, make this one your first! Tours are a great way to meet new friends, show off that Bimmer, and see more of the beautiful state that we call home.

On May 16th, we’re planning a Club drive to the Long Beach Peninsula. Aptly named at 28 miles in length, the Peninsula is the longest natural beach in the United States. While I wouldn’t recommend it, the beach is open to automobiles, with a strictly enforced speed limit.

We will travel South on I-5 through Olympia, out toward the Coast on Highway 8, then South on a great stretch of Highway 101, with quite a few twisty sections and nice views of Willapa Bay. Arriving in Long Beach around noon, we’ll have lunch at the fantastic Shelburne Inn Restaurant, and leave a little time for sightseeing around town. The town of Long Beach has one of those dense, touristy centers, with kite shops, ice cream parlors, etc., and is easily covered on foot.

The cost for lunch is $20 per person, tax and tip included.

This route is about 3.5 hours each way, expect to return to Seattle around 6:00 PM or so. Even if the forecast is for warm and sunny weather, bring a windbreaker! The Coast can be foggy. As with most of our Tours, directions will be provided ONE WAY ONLY! Your departure time and return route are flexible and entirely up to you.
