BimmerWorld BMW CCA Club Racing School at CTMP

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park - GP

About this event

If you're considering advancing to the ranks of BMW CCA Club Racing or interested in accelerating your driving skill to a new level the BimmerWorld BMW CCA Club Racing School is the event is for you. The school is open to advanced BMW CCA HPDE students and instructors, as well as participants with equivalent driving experience from other recognized organizations.

The BimmerWorld BMW CCA Racing School is a safe, fun and intense learning experience designed to teach you a new level of performance driving along with the fundamentals of BMW Club Racing. Successful completion of the school with demonstrated skills will qualify you to apply for a provisional BMW CCA Club Race license. The weekend consists of eight classroom sessions and eight track sessions. The classroom curriculum with the supporting track sessions covers advanced situational awareness, communicating with your car, predictability, safe passing anywhere, closed circuit, door-to-door performance driving, competitive passing techniques, driver/race car preparation, and knowledge of BMW CCA Club racing rules. On the track you’ll experience corner passing, driving three-wide at speed, green-flag practice starts, and a full simulated race exercise all under the watchful eye of the BimmerWorld BMW CCA Club Racing Instructors and On-track Coaches.

The learning is accelerated, the driving is fast, and the experience is unforgettable! Any car suitable for use in a BMW CCA HPDE event can be used. Participants do not need a race prepared car, and all manufacturers/models of cars are welcome. Note that helmets must be either Snell SA2015 or Snell SA2020

The cost to students attending the two-day school is $960 CAD (HST included), with early-bird pricing of $895 CAD before March 1. United States residents will enjoy the lower cost benefit of the favorable exchange rate! Solo lapping is available on Friday, April 25, to race school attendees. You may register for Friday lapping at the same time as registering for the race school, with the cost dependent on when you register ($485 CAD if you register more than 6 weeks before, $530 CAD if you register more than 3 weeks before, $570 CAD otherwise; all prices HST included).

Please direct your questions and inquiries to the registrar (Allan Lewis at registrar@trilliumbmwclub.ca).

Race School Coaches
Experienced racers from BMW Club Racing and other sanctioned race series are invited to help coach. We need racers to participate in discussions regarding a variety of topics, take part in on-track exercises, and observe and comment on the actions of the students. When on track, you will be using your own car and not be in the student's car. Friday lapping is free for those who commit to coach Saturday and Sunday. If interested, please contact the registrar (Allan Lewis at registrar@trilliumbmwclub.ca) directly – do NOT register as an instructor for the Trillium DE that weekend as that is for DE instructors only.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older and have a full driver's license (not a provisional or learners permit), which is not suspended or revoked.
  • You must bring an approved and signed pre-event Technical Inspection Form for the car you intend to track. Your car must be inspected by a licensed mechanic according to all of the criteria on the club's technical inspection form. At the time of the inspection you must ensure your mechanic completes and signs the form. This inspection should be completed no earlier than 4 weeks before the driving school. A separate technical inspection is required for each car you intend to track for every driving school you attend. You must present the completed and signed form at registration (morning of the first day of the driving school). Without a completed and signed form for the car you want to drive, the car will not be allowed on track but can be used on the skid pad.
  • You must sign a BMW CCA waiver and CTMP waiver at registration.
  • PLEASE NOTE: CARS EQUIPPED WITH COLLISION AVOIDANCE BRAKING SYSTEMS AND/OR LANE DEPARTURE CORRECTIVE SYSTEMS: These systems must be turned off prior to entering the track for each track session.
  • Open-top cars: Convertibles and cars with T-tops or Targa tops are allowed only if they have fixed roll-over protection AND pass the "broomstick" test. Pop-up roll-over protection is not permitted. Note that the BMW CCA broomstick test is different than the PCA test. Drivers and passengers (instructors) of all such vehicles must all wear arm restraints. Hardtop convertibles with the top up and cars with T-tops and Targa tops installed are not subject to Open-Top car rules. Please confirm compliance ahead of time by emailing registrar@trilliumbmwclub.ca, providing a photograph of a side view of the vehicle with driver seated and with helmet on.  The Trillium Safety Steward has sole accountability for the application and interpretation of the "broom-stick" rule and acceptability of an Open-Top car for use on the track.
  • BMW SAV’s are allowed only in the novice group.
  • Hybrid / Electric vehicles: As a result of the specialized requirements for fighting battery fires, Li-ion battery powered vehicles (hybrid or full electric) are not allowed until the necessary support capabilities have been implemented by the safety crews attending Trillium events..
  • Vehicles not permitted on track (excluding Parade Laps): Open-wheeled cars, trucks (including light trucks, i.e. pickups), vans (including minivans), non-BMW SUV/SAV’s, cross-overs, military vehicles, delivery vehicles, three-wheeled vehicles, motorcycles, etc. Basically, anything that isn't a coupe, gran coupe, sedan, station/sport wagon, hatchback, or compact is prohibited.

*Please note Trillium Chapter reserves the right to restrict any vehicle from participation if the Trillium Safety Steward believes there is an unacceptable safety risk to either the driver and/or other participants.

  • Helmets required: Helmets must meet the Snell SA2015 or SA2020 standard. A very limited number of loaner helmets are available at the track. Motorcycle helmets are not allowed. Please note an 'M' helmet does not mean Motorsport. It means Motorcycle.
  • Occupant safety: The driver and passenger seats and seat belts must be functionally equivalent. This means if your driver seat has a 5-point harness, your passenger seat must also have a 5-point harness.
  • Apparel: Long pants and sleeved tops are mandatory on track, no tank tops, no open shoes. Synthetics are strongly discouraged (cotton or silk highly recommended).
  • Passengers:  With the exception of Parade Laps, student drivers are NOT permitted to carry any passengers while on track, except for Trillium approved instructors. Instructors are the only drivers permitted to carry passengers in their cars, such as school students or guests, on track.
  • Refunds: Fees are fully refundable up to 15 days prior to the event. Please note the club is not responsible for currency fluctuations. There are no refunds for cancellations at 14 days or less prior to the event.
  • Driver substitutions: Not allowed.
