August Cal Club Autocross Championship & Practice
El Toro Marine BaseAbout this event
We return to the runways of El Toro in Irvine, CA for the eight event of the 2018 season.
We will have a Practice on Saturday followed by a Championship event on Sunday.
Solo, or autocross, is a low speed, timed, car handling event set up as a small road course lined with orange traffic cones on a large parking lot or aircraft runway. The emphasis is on handling and car control and courses are laid out so that the top speed is limited to what would typically be encountered during normal driving. Learn more about us at solo2.com.
The Saturday Practice and Sunday Championship events are open to all SCCA members. If you’re not an SCCA member, do not worry. During the online registration process, you can buy a weekend membership.
Saturday Practice—August 11
Please note that Saturday is capacity-controlled to ensure people get a lot of runs, and registering for the event DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOUR ENTRY. However, once you are on the confirmed entry list, your entry is then guaranteed. Be sure to register early for your best chance at acceptance. Entry preference will be given to those attending the SCCA Solo National Championships.
To avoid confusion once the practice sells out, we have added a new 'Waitlist Saturday' registration option. If the practice is sold out by the time you register, the only registration open will be for the waitlist.

Click here for the complete SCCA National Rules >
Autocross Sunday Vehicle Number
You must have a vehicle number in order to compete on Autocross Sundays. The best way to get a number is to purchase a permanent number via a points cards. Points cards are available for purchase online here. Cost is $20 for each calendar year (cards purchased the last three months of any calendar year will also be valid the following calendar year). Please note that an Autocross Sunday points card is required to compete for year-end awards, Team Championship, and Team Challenge.
If you’re not ready to purchase a points card, a random 6xx number will be assigned to you at registration along with a matching paper number that can be taped to your car. If you have already have a permanent number on your vehicle, you may have the option to use a random 6xx number or convert your existing number by placing a one (1) and the appropriate number of zeros in front of your existing number to create a 1xxx number. In either case, the cost for a temporary number is $5 per event.
Classing your Car
You can register to run Time Only or you can register in a class. Classes are based off your car and its modifications. Click here to view the SCCA rule book to determine what class your car should be in. If you don’t know how to class your call, click here and create a new post on our forum thread.
Work Assignment
You will be required to sign up for your Sunday work assignment during the online checkout process. You will be able to list your first and second choice. This does NOT GUARANTEE you will be assigned that position, but we try to be accommodating wherever possible. Please note that for specialty positions (such as computer, time recorder, master radio, starter, etc.) you must have prior experience with the SCCA to receive those. Also note that when multiple people sign up for the same position in the same worker group, the person who registered first will be given that position. So, register early to have a better chance of securing your preferred work assignment!
