About this event
“110 years of competition and friendship.” Postponed by a year, Alfa Romeo is the featured marque for The Grand Prix Festival in Watkins Glen, New York historic home of the first Grand Prix in this country. Simultaneously the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s SPEED TOUR U.S. Vintage Grand Prix on the Watkins Glen International circuit also features Alfa with special on track events such as the “all Alfa Romeo” race and the parade laps featuring YOU in your Alfa!
With lodging normally exceedingly difficult, a block of rooms has been reserved for Alfisti at the Radisson Corning, New York. Everything else is easy and fun! There is a direct link to the hotel at AlfasattheGlen.com; use "ALFAS" when asked for a promotional code.
The banquet speaker will be Bob Little who has lived a rich ‘Alfa Romeo life’ holding a wide variety of duties over a 20 year period with Alfa Romeo USA. Earlier as an unpaid ‘gopher’ for the Alfa Romeo S.p.A. racing division Autodelta, he lived inside the factory walls for a period of time and traveled to European and American race circuits with the Autodelta team supporting its racing activities… and has driven Alfa Romeo production cars for well over 1,000,000 miles over his five decades as a true Alfa Romeo enthusiast.
He is the founder and “Team Manager” of the www.AutodeltaGoldenYears.com heritage site of Alfa Romeo racing history from the post WWII period to the present day.
His presentation “Il Quadrifoglio at Watkins Glen” will show banquet guests his rare copyrighted collection of original images of the top secret Autodelta factory in Settimo Milanese, a road trip down the coast of Italy to the Targa Florio in Sicily, one week at Le Mans with the team and finally a glimpse of Alfa Romeo Formula One history from 1970 through 1985.
It is anticipated that Bob will gladly hold a ‘Q+A’ session along with an audience drawing for unusual Alfa Romeo gifts after the show.
Car shows and concourses. Beautiful Finger lakes region of NY. Iconic Watkins Glen International with hundreds of fabulous vintage racers competing door-to-door. OPEN PADDOCK gets you up close to the cars. SVRA and Trans Am racing. Welcome reception Thursday night. In town on Friday will be a full day of Grand Prix Festival activities culminating in the famous “reenactment” of the original race by dozens of vintage racers highlighted by a thundering herd of Alfas! Also Friday is a special gala dinner with guest speakers, like what was done in 2005, 2010, and 2015 to great effect (seating is limited!) A complete schedule of events can be found at alfasattheglen.com.
Alfa club members, spectators and parade lappers welcome! Up at the track will be both a car corral for Alfas and a special paddock for the Alfas at the Glen racers.
Best regards,
Alfas at the Glen Committee
