NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS
Hello VMF-7 Racers, Safety Crew and Family,
We hope you and your family are well during this time. All of us certainly have faced great challenges since March. We would like to thank-you for your support of the Vintage Motorsports Festival at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (VMF-7). On May 13 we had to make the decision to cancel this year’s event and put it on the calendar for June 10-12, 2021. There were several key factors beyond our control that drove this decision which include:
- The ReOpen CT guidelines issued on May 8 only allow outdoor recreational gatherings of five or less
- We called numerous hotels in both CT and MA and all are under mandate to only allow “safety sensitive” workers with no designated date for opening to the public
- Thompson Speedway has tried to communicate with the state for clarifications with no reply
Since we only have four weeks until the event, we saw no path forward based on state guidelines that the above items would be resolved in time. We also discussed postponing until later in the year but given the uncertainty and many other rescheduled events we did not see that as a viable option. We are very proud of the effort the VRG team put into trying to make the event happen including the development of COVID-19 safety practices during motorsports events. When Thompson Speedway does open there may be opportunities for you to join some of there “Club Day” open track sessions and we will keep you posted.
We will be issuing refunds on MotorSports Reg immediately. Again, the entire VRG team would like to thank-you for your loyalty. We look forward to seeing you at the track soon and wish all the best to you and your families.
