2025 Spring Fling Drive, U of I Tours, & Lunch

INWR Tour Spokane

About this event

The Spring Fling is Heading South in 2025!

On Saturday April 26, starting just south of Spokane, we welcome the 2025 driving season with the Spring Fling, beginning at the LaShaw Ranch Roasters outside of Rockford, WA. LaShaw Rosters are inside the Gem Mercantile where fresh roasted coffee and pastries are available. They're opening early just for us! LaShaw Ranch Roasters/Golden Gem Mercantile, 18805 S WA-27, Rockford, WA 99030 (LaShaw Ranch Roasters)

From there we will tour southeast through the Palouse to Plummer and then east into the mountains to St. Maries. Staying in the St. Joe and Clearwater Mountains we will tour south toward Harvard and Deary, finally turning west toward Troy and Moscow. The driving portion of the Spring Flings ends at the west side Starbucks, 1930 W. Pullman Rd, Moscow, ID 83844.

Once in Moscow we are offering two opportunities. First, Dr. Phil Bass, Associate Professor – Meat Science will provide a tour of the U of I Vandal Meats facilities and a presentation on the Art of Butchery to obtain the best cuts of meat for your grilling and roasting. No live animals will be involved.

The second, simultaneous opportunity, is a tour of the U of I Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Established in 1910, the arboretum is planted into four geographic regions; Asia, Europe, Eastern North America, and Western North America. The walking tour of the Arboretum is about 2.3 km.

Following the tours, we will join up again for lunch at Gambino's Italian restaurant in Moscow.  (Gambino's)

We are test running the route to finalize directions and timing so our schedule will be updated in emails to registrants. But, because of the U of I tours we'll have an early start, The route will cover approximately 120 miles, take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours (including rest stops) and end at the Starbucks. It's expected the driving phase of the Spring Fling to be done by noon or earlier, then the U of I tours.  We will reunite at Gambino's at 1:30 p.m. for a pay as you go lunch.

We will run three run groups:

   - Lively; getting from A to B and legally stretching your car's legs with the cautions of mountain and rural driving while respecting there are others on the road.

   - Casual; enjoying your car's handing on the road amongst mountain and rural settings with due cautions and respect of others on the road.

   - Touring; exploring scenic roads, small towns, and farms of the Idaho Panhandle while respecting there are others on the road.

There is a maximum of 60 cars and drivers for this event. Passengers are limited to the number of seats in your Porsche.

We hope you will join us.  It should be a great time!
