About this event
After previously being scheduled in New Jersey, the 2012 Northeast National Tour finally found a home at the familuar Devens Airfield in Ayer Massachusetts. Devens was a mainstay on the National Solo calendar until 2009 when Friday access to the site was lost. That has not changed for 2012, but with the cancellation of the New Jersey date the decision was to forgo the practice course and return to Ayer. The site, smooth and grippy, is one of the best and biggest sites in the country, featuring two separate courses for the tour in 2000. Host, New England Region not only puts on a great event when the Road to Lincoln makes a stop, but brings out some of the top drivers in the country to do battle. If you are looking for great competition on a great site, you can't do much better than the 2012 Northeast Tour!
The Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Tour Road to Lincoln takes National Solo on the road to various locations around the country. These events average over 275 drivers from a wide geographical area, with most of the competitors coming from nearby states. These drivers come together to get a taste of the "Nationals" experience of competition and camaraderie as these events are presented in a format similar to that found in Lincoln.
The competition at a National Tour takes place over two days on two separate courses, like Solo Nationals. The first day, competitors each get three runs or chances to drive one of the courses and on the second day they get three runs on the other course. Like any other Solo competition, runs are timed to 1/1000th of a second and knocking a cone down means a penalty of 2 seconds added to that time. The best times from each course are added together for the final class standings. All classes at National Tours are the same, standard Solo classes that you’ll find at Solo Nationals and as defined by the SCCA in the Solo Rulebook.
Registration Fee $102. After June 11, 2012, 12pm CDT all entries must be faxed or scanned to the National office. A non-refundable fee of $138.00 is due for entries received after 12pm CDT.
