Valentines Day Massacre EBoard Championship

Auto Club Speedway

About this event

It 's back to Auto Club Speedway for the second event of the 2011 championship seaon.  Whether your a seasoned veteran or this will be your first time out, you're assured of having a great autox experience on the Jonathan Lugod designed course.  Past experience tells me this course will be "fast and furious".

What is Autocross? - Also know as Autox, it is a form of motorsports that emphasizes safe, low-cost competition and active participation. Competitors are  timed while navigating one at a time through a temporary course marked by traffic cones, rather than racing on a track with multiple other cars, as in road racing. In autox the emphasis is on car handling and driver skill rather than sheer horsepower.  Speeds are slower in absolute terms when compared to other forms of motorsports, usually not exceeding highway speeds, but the activity level (measured in discrete turns per minute) can be higher than even Formula One due to the large number of elements packed into each course. In addition to being a national-level motorsport in its own right, autoxing is a good way to learn skills that transfer to road racing as drivers learn vehicle control and club ethics.  The skills one attains autoxing will also make for a safer, more confident driver on the street.

Events are held in large paved areas like parking lots or airfields.  For each event, we create a new and unique course to challenge our drivers, typically 55 to 70 seconds in length.  Prior to driving, a competitor will walk the course, taking mental notes, and developing a strategy to be refined upon subsequent runs.  Class winners are those that navigate the course the fastest after factoring in penalties for hitting cones.  We offer many different classes which allow almost any vehicle, from economy sedans to purpose-built vehicles, to compete.

Autox is a work/run event is which competitors share in the work of putting on an event.

Everyone is Welcome - Whether you're a 30 year veteran of the sport or have absolutely no driving competition experience, you are welcome at our championships.  All that's required is a desire to compete.  If your new, Novice Coordinators are on the event site to help you get started, but you'll find a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere coming from all competitors.  We were all new at one point so we understand you're anxiety.

For more information - For more information on who we are, go here http://solo2.com/MiscDocuments/WhoWeAre.pdf or here solo2.com.
