NAAC High Performance Driving School Summer 2012

New Hampshire Motor Speedway

About this event

NAAC Spring Driving School 2012

Welcome to the registration for the North Atlantic Audi Club’s (NAAC) High Performance Driving School (HPDE).

What is it?

Although you may have read similar descriptions before and are ready to sign up for a 2 great day's of fun and learning, we are including it here as a courtesy so that your expectations are met.  In short, it's a chance to drive your car in a fun, safe, learning environment, on one of the best teaching tracks in the country. It's a chance to learn more about yourself, your driving skills, and your car. It's even a chance to meet and socialize with a diverse group of people who really enjoy their cars and are always seeking to improve their skills behind the wheel.

First-time students at driving schools run by the North Atlantic Audi Club will spend the morning of the first day in short classroom sessions and then head out on track for a familarization run. During all driving sessions the students drive their own cars and are coached by club instructors. This provides helpful input to ensure students get the most out of the experience, while maintaining a safe environment.

Running laps on the track fills up the rest of the 'seat-time' at your event. Run groups are established to allow students to run laps with other drivers of similar experience. Novice students always have an instructor in the car during lapping. Passing is only allowed on straight sections of the course, and under controlled circumstances, making for a very safe environment. Lapping on these tracks provides a great opportunity to safely learn advanced driving techniques and explore the capabilities of both car and driver.

Who are we?

NAAC is a chapter of the Audi Club of North America (ACNA), which is a 501c(3) non-profit organization.  Much of our mission is to educate our members in driver education and driver safety training. The NAAC serves the members in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island area, but our events are open to non-Audi owners as well. To support the educational experience, NAAC offers events ranging from new Audi Introductions, Technical Seminars, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) days, Teen Driving Clinics, Adult Clinics, to Winter Driving Schools and High Performance Driver Education throughout the year. NAAC has the advantage of working and partnering with many Audi dealerships and well recognized private service centers in and around Boston and eastern New England. The club also offers frequent social gatherings, special events, and museum tours.

As a member of the ACNA, you automatically become a member of NAAC if you live in any the four states listed above. You will receive a quarterly magazine from ACNA, as well as a newsletter from NAAC to keep you up to date on all the scheduled events happening throughout the year.

New drivers with no track experience who wish to attend for only one day must attend the first day.

Classroom Sessions:
This is a driver's education school and is not practice for any racing or speed contest. All participants are required to attend classroom sessions designed to teach vehicle dynamics and driving techniques. These sessions will continue throughout the day to help participants understand the fine art of high speed driving. Failure to attend as required will result in loss of driving privileges.

Tech Inspection:
You are required to have a qualified mechanic inspect your vehicle and verify its safety no more than 30 days prior to the event. The mechanic will need to fill out the Safety Inspection Report which can be downloaded from here. Complimentary inspections are available at Advanced Technologies in Gloucester, MA (978-282-5544).

In addition, on the morning of the event our tech crew will collect all Pre-Event Safety Inspection Reports and perform a spot check of every vehicle. You are solely responsible for insuring that your vehicle is safe before you come to the track. Failure to present a completed Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report or failure to pass our spot check will disqualify you from participation in the event and your entry fee will be forfeited.

Pre-event tech inspection, which is recommended but not mandatory, will occur at registration headquarters (Best Western Concord Inn & Suites, 97 Hall Street, Concord, NH) on Wednesday, August 22nd, from 3 to 7 PM.

Important Notes and a Few Rules:
Please understand that this is not a racing school but rather a safe, high speed driving school, conducted on a race track under close supervision by experienced instructors. You will learn how to handle and control your vehicle at speeds not normally attained on public roads. This will help to prepare you for emergencies that may occur in normal driving situations. It will also allow you to explore your capabilities as a driver and those of your vehicle. At no time will you be pushed or encouraged to go any faster than is comfortable for you. All participants will be organized into run groups in accordance with experience, skill, and type of vehicle. Participants not "signed off" will be required to drive with an instructor on board at all times. Under no circumstances will timed laps be permitted! If you are seen with a stop watch at any time, you will be asked to leave and forfeit your ability to participate in this or future North Atlantic Audi Club Driving Schools.

Medical Information Form:
Completion of the Medical Information Form is at the option of the Applicant, though it is highly recommended. Complete this form if you would like rescue personnel at the racetrack to have your medical information readily available should you incur personal injuries or suffer from an illness while participating in the event. If you opt to complete the form, you must strictly follow the instructions. A sealed envelope with this form will be delivered to the rescue personnel before driving begins. After conclusion of the event, your envelope and its contents will be shredded.
