Summer Driving School 2009 @ Thunderhill

Thunderhill Raceway Park

About this event

Join the BMW CCA Golden Gate Chapter on August 8 & 9 at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA! Thunderhill is a beautiful and challenging race track, making it a great place to learn the art of high performance driving from the dedicated team of experienced GGC instructors. You'll go home with skills you can use on the roads every day as well as some great memories of laps at this fantastic racetrack.

If you are an experienced (A or B group) driver, you will be excited to hear about our expanded passing options for these run groups!  The B group will now enjoy a wider selection of passing zones while the As will pass anywhere with a point-by!

This driving school will feature a BMW CCA Club Race as well, bringing you the thrill of watching wheel-to-wheel racing when not driving on the track yourself.

Our program receives rave reviews from students every year - come out and see why!

Event requirements

School requirements:

Your car must be registered, you must be a licensed driver, 18 years of age or older and you must be a BMW CCA member to be eligible for enrollment (non-member fee includes a BMW CCA year membership).

If you have no previous organized, on track high-performance driving experience, you are required to attend one of the club's Car Control Clinics ("CCC").

Snell SA2000 and M2000 or newer helmets are required.  A limited number of rental helmets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday morning for a $15 fee.

Convertibles and T-top cars must have 5-point/6-point belts and arm restraints, as well as an approved roll cage installed.  Factory "rollover protection" for a soft top (i.e. BMW Z3 and Z4, Porsche Boxster) is not sufficient for the school.  Convertibles with hard tops, including folding hard tops, are NOT ALLOWED.  Examples of cars NOT ALLOWED include: Firebirds and Camaros with T-tops or convertibles; any Corvette other than the Z06 coupe;  Porsche convertibles and Targas, and BMW folding hardtop convertibles.  The Lotus Elise, while a targa-style car, IS ALLOWED due to its structural design provided that the hard roof panel is in place (the soft roof panel is not sufficient).  It is essential that you email Mark Dadgar to discuss these issues well in advance if you plan to bring a convertible or T-top car.

Please make sure to include and update your experience and your emergency contact info in your account when you register online.
