NEQ Winter Driving School - Mecaglisse

Mecaglisse

About this event

Well you've asked for it, now you have it:

The Northeast Quattro Club has expanded our winter driving school calendar to include an event at the incredible venue of Mecaglisse in Quebec!

Those who have been there know that it's fantastic:  a full skid pad and a variety of different road course tracks to test your winter driving skills. What's not to love?  If you're fortunate enough to have attended one of the schools we've held there in past years then you have some idea of how great this facility is.  Nonetheless the owners have not rested on their laurels and there have been significant improvements to the facility since the last time we were there, so it should be even more fun!  Check out their website at www.mecaglisse.ca

We have 2 full days reserved at this premier winter driving facility for all drivers.  Friday will be for Instructors only, with a separate registration (click here).  This event is likely to sell out quickly, so don't delay and reserve your place before it's too late!

Max number of instructors (Sat and Sun) - 25
Max number of students (Sat and Sun) -  35
Max number of instructors (Fri only) - 50

See you in Quebec!

Event requirements

What to bring:  You will be outside all day so dress accordingly. Layers and wind blocking outerwear are recommended. Shoes or boots need to be warm but also you need to be able to feel and manipulate pedals. If your boots are too bulky you will get tangled in the pedals and perhaps create a situation that ends up in a snow bank.  Consider two pair of boots - one warm pair of pack boots and one pair of smaller insulated boots for driving.

Helmets: Helmets are not required for this event.

Your Car:  Unlike track events you will be able to leave things in the trunk of your car as long as there is nothing heavy or anything that will be damaged or create damage by rolling around.  Come with a full tank of gas since it is likely that your car will be running most of the day especially if it is very cold.  Be sure your fluids are topped off and your lights and wipers are in good working order. Tech inspection is not required, but it is recommended that you have your vehicle checked by a qualified individual prior to attending.  We are on a frozen course, so fluid leaks must resolved prior to the event.  You may want to drop your tires down a couple of pounds to increase traction. Of course snow tires are highly recommended but if you don’t have them you will go out and buy a set after this event even if you have all wheel drive. Snow tends to build up in your wheel rims causing imbalance so an old snow brush or wheel brush to clear out the wheels is a good idea.

Guests:  There is a limited amount of space for non-driver guests.

Food: Lunch is included for all paid participants.  If you have a non-participant guest they may join you for lunch for $30. per day.  Lunch is a sit-down served hot meal of soup, main course, dessert and coffee/tea.  Water and soda are also included.  No extra charge for the view  ;-)

You will: Be amazed at what you can do with your car on snow and ice.  Learn about car control dynamics and low friction handling techniques, and have more fun that you thought you ever could in a moving car!

All prices are in U.S. dollars.
