About this event
Texas Region SCCA’s 2016 Road Rally program continues with the
TULIP TIME RALLY
This winter has been hard across the country, so we are ready for images of spring, like the tulips above right. The image above left is a kind of rally instruction called a tulip. This one means “Turn left at slant T at STOP”. The X represents the stop sign. These were first used by the famous Tulip Rally in Holland. We will use this type of route instruction for some of the event.
The other difference between this rally and the others we will present this year is rally timing: you are going to be timed to the second for parts of the rally. But this is easy: all you need is a watch with a second hand (or an app that displays time to the second). We ask you to drive a one-hour+ loop north of Denton, twice, in exactly the same time. The team that comes closest to that goal will be the winner. There will be a few sign questions that will act as tie-breakers.
We will be starting and ending at the Horny Toad Restaurant, in the Stonehill Center in Denton, at the (northern) intersection of I-35 and Loop 288.
The rally will be held on Saturday, May 21. Registration opens at 10:00am at the restaurant. The first car will start at 11:31am. Cost is $25 per car (SCCA members get a $5 discount). There will be a mid-rally lunch break at the Horny Toad Restaurant. Preregistration will be at http://msreg.us/TTR16msr . Those who preregister will get the event rules via email prior to the rally. There will be a $5 late fee at the Horny Toad for those who do not preregister. The event is open to any four-wheel street-legal vehicle, and there must be two or more people old enough to read aboard. Any person in the car who is a minor (under 18 years old) must have an SCCA "Minor Release" signed by a parent in the presence of the rally registrar or a Notary Public. Course following will be easy, with mileages at most instructions.

This rally is sanctioned as a Divisional Rally by SCCA, and is a part of the National SCCA RoadRally Championship. Sanction Number 2016-DG-41-03.
