BMW CCA GGC Fall HPDE

Thunderhill Raceway Park

About this event

Join the Golden Gate Chapter on November 12 & 13th on the 3 mile east course at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA for our fall '16 HDPE.

Thunderhill is a beautiful and challenging race track, making it a great place to learn the art of high-performance driving from the dedicated team of experienced GGC instructors. Some of our instructors have backgrounds in racing and many have started in our program as a student like you and advanced through to coaching.  BMW CCA instructors are qualified via an intensive two-day instructor training program to ensure your safety and a consistent, high quality learning experience.

Our events are driving schools, not open track days; every student is assigned an instructor for the duration of the event.  Our focus is on safety and learning. The price for this 2 day event is $625 for BMW CCA members ($673 for non-member and 1 year membership is included).

For advanced students, we are offering an Advanced Coaching program option ($295 extra) which includes two days of intensive 1:1 coaching with a dedicated driving coach paired with you for the weekend.  It uses data acquisition equipment to carefully analyze every aspect of your driving.  The Advanced Coaching program is designed to take the guess work out of driving to improve your driving accuracy. When not on track you and your coach will analyze each session's data in a classroom environment.  Some of the data types that are evaluated include real-time GPS, RPM, throttle position, braking effort, and steering inputs.  Your own driving data will be discussed after the session.  This program can take you to the next step advancing your track driving skills.

Our HPDE and Advanced Coaching programs receive rave reviews from driving enthusiasts every year.  You'll go home with new skills and a heightened awareness that you can apply to your daily driving as well as some great memories of doing laps at this fantastic racetrack.

Event requirements

School requirements:

Your car must be registered, you must be a licensed driver, 18 years of age or older and you must be a BMW CCA member to be eligible for enrollment (non-member fee includes a non-refundable one-year BMW CCA membership).

Note: Attendance at a GGC Car Control Clinic is strongly recommended and is typically a prerequisite for first-timers planning to attend any of our driving schools who do not have previous high-performance driving experience. For this event, we can waive this requirement if you are not able to attend a Car Control Clinic prior to the school.

Snell (M or SA) 2005 or 2010 helmets are required for all events.

If you would like to share a car with another student, please contact the Registrar by clicking the Host Details to the right before registering.

Convertibles and T-top cars must have 5-point/6-point belts and arm restraints, as well as an approved roll bar installed.  Factory "rollover protection" for a soft top (i.e. BMW Z3 and Z4, Porsche Boxster) is not sufficient for the school.  Convertibles with hard tops, including folding hard tops, are NOT ALLOWED.

Examples of cars NOT ALLOWED include: Firebirds and Camaros with T-tops or convertibles; any Corvette other than the Z06 coupe and the C7; Porsche convertibles and Targas.  The Lotus Elise and Corvette C7, while targa-style cars, ARE ALLOWED due to its structural design only if the hard roof panel is in place (the soft roof panel is not sufficient).  It is essential that you email us to discuss these issues well in advance if you plan to bring a convertible or T-top car.  We will not give refunds if you sign up with an ineligible car.

All cars that go on the track must pass a tech inspection before the event and the completed and signed Tech Form (http://ggcbmwcca.org/new_html/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/TechFormThunderhill103.pdf) presented at event registration.

Cancellation policy: Any cancellations on or before 10/28/16 pay $50.00 (or $98 for non-members, who will receive a 1-year BMW CCA membership). Cancellations after 10/28/16 will not receive a refund or credit for any reason.

Please make sure to include or update your experience and your emergency contact info in your account when you register online.

Additional important information, a program overview, and the required GGC BMW CCA tech form are available at
