2 Day Driving School at Atlanta Motorsports Park
Atlanta Motorsports ParkAbout this event
The Audi Club of Georgia is hosting a 2-Day Driving School at Atlanta Motorsports Park, presented by Audi North Atlanta!
Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) is a road course designed by famed Formula One architects, Hermann Tilke. At AMP's heart is a 2-mile road course with 141 feet of elevation changes, technical course layout, high speed straights and two ‘signature’ corners designed to pay homage to famed European race courses; Belgium’s Spa-Francochamps and the iconic ‘Carousel’ from Germany’s Nürburgring.
Students and Instructors must hold a valid membership in Audi Club North America (ACNA).
The driving school will be held October 11 and 12, 2014.
Classroom Sesssions:
This is a driver's education school and is not practice for any racing or speed contest. All participants are required to attend classroom sessions designed to teach vehicle dynamics and driving techniques. These sessions will continue throughout the day to help participants understand the fine art of precision driving.
Helmets:
AMP requires that all participants wear SA rated helmets. This means SA2005, SA2010 and SA2015 helmets will be the only specifications accepted. No M helmets will be allowed.
Tech Inspections:
You will be encouraged to have a qualified individual/mechanic inspect your vehicle and verify its safety. This inspection should occur within four weeks of the event. You are solely responsible for insuring that your vehicle is safe before you come to the track. Failure to present a completed Pre-Event Tech Inspection Report or failure to pass the tech inspection will disqualify you from participation in the event and your entry fee will be forfeited. Tech sheets are available for downloading from the clubs website.
You will need to have your Pre-Event tech inspection form filled out by your mechanic no more than 30 days prior to the event. By having your car pre-teched you save a lot of time during the check in process.
Other Requirements:
All participants must present a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years of age. Seat belts (same type for both driver and passenger) must be securely anchored to the floor and/or stock mountings. This is not a racing school but rather a safe, high speed driving school, conducted on a race track under close supervision by experienced instructors. You will learn how to handle and control your vehicle. This will help to prepare you for emergencies that may occur in normal driving situations. It will also allow you to explore your capabilities as a driver and those of your vehicle. At no time will you be pushed or encouraged to go any faster than is comfortable for you. All participants will be organized into run groups in accordance with experience, skill, and type of vehicle.
Medical Information Form:
Completion of the Medical Information Form is required. A sealed envelope will be provided and this form will be delivered to the rescue personnel before driving begins. After conclusion of the event, your envelope and its contents will be returned to you or shredded.
Sound Restrictions:
Atlanta Motorsports Park has a strict 98dB limit 50 feet from the edge of the track (on both sides of the track). This is due to the zoning requirements imposed by Dawson County, and closely monitoring sound levels is the only way to ensure they remain open. If necessary, AMP has two vendors who have developed low cost, removable, baffles designed to lower the sound level of your exhaust.
